We liked the italian restaurant (but a big roach was crawling on the booth as we were leaving). The rooms were nice, we loved the golf course, and the staff was helpful and friendly.
The Winstar World Casino and Resort is the closest casino to Dallas. We had the 2 free night coupons with free buffet, so I would say definitely avoid the promotions as it might be better when it's less crowded. Here is the list of 6 Best Casinos in Dallas. Crowded, very long check in line and had to get your player card first which was another long line, very few casino tables (everything is mostly slots), there must have been 300 people in the buffet line on Thursday night that was moving at snail pace (we didn't even bother), the buffet food we had on Wednesday was below average, had to wait 20 minutes or more in the morning line to get a coffee, the pool was so crowded and just gross with that many people in it, not a kid friendly place - nothing for kids to do as ours didn't want to go near the overcrowded pool, the shower floors are slick and the toilets are very low so beware if you are elderly, the walk to the casino was so far that I had to get a wheelchair for my mom and I had to push her around the casino because it was so big, casino is very smoky (but that is typical), machines didn't seem to be paying anything, and dealers at the 3 card poker game were not up on the game and made many mistakes (never seen that with dealers - usually they know what they're doing).
